Giza

The Giza Plateau is home to the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. Built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, the Great Pyramid of Cheops is the only surviving structure of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Guarding this magnificent complex is the Great Sphinx, a monumental statue with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, widely believed to represent King Chephren.

Located about 30 km south of Cairo, Sakkara was the vast necropolis of the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis. Its absolute centerpiece is the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the brilliant architect Imhotep.

Built in the 27th century BC, it is considered the earliest colossal stone building and the earliest large-scale cut stone construction in history.

Dahshur is a royal necropolis located in the desert on the west bank of the Nile. It is most famous for its two spectacular pyramids built by King Sneferu: the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid.

The Bent Pyramid is a unique transitional form with an angled top, representing a critical learning curve in pyramid building.

Founded around 3100 BC by King Menes, Memphis was the first capital of a unified Egypt. Today, its ruins form a fascinating open-air museum set in a tranquil, palm-shaded village.

The absolute highlight of the museum is the breathtaking colossal statue of Ramses II. Carved from limestone, it measures over 10 meters long even without its lower legs.
